Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) – Home Health | Newark, NJ | Full-Time or Part-Time | Earn Up to $105,300

Stern at Home Therapy is hiring Full-Time and Part-Time Physical Therapist Assistants (PTAs) to provide one-on-one care to patients in their homes throughout Newark, NJ and surrounding communities.

This opportunity is ideal for a licensed PTA who wants the flexibility and autonomy of home health while still having the support of supervising Physical Therapists and an established clinical and administrative team.

Treat one patient at a time, manage your daily schedule, and provide individualized care without the double-booking and high-volume productivity expectations common in traditional outpatient settings.

What You'll Do:
As a Physical Therapist Assistant with Stern at Home Therapy, you will provide one-on-one treatments to a primarily geriatric patient population in their homes throughout the Newark area.

You will work under the supervision of licensed Physical Therapists who establish each patient's plan of care and provide clinical oversight. PTAs do not perform evaluations, allowing you to focus on treatment and helping patients progress toward their established goals.

Responsibilities include:
  • Provide one-on-one physical therapy treatments in patients' homes.
  • Carry out individualized treatment plans established by the supervising Physical Therapist.
  • Help patients improve mobility, strength, balance, endurance, safety, and overall function.
  • Provide gait training, transfer training, therapeutic exercise, and fall-prevention interventions.
  • Educate patients and caregivers on exercises, mobility strategies, and home safety.
  • Monitor the patient's progress and communicate any changes to the supervising PT.
  • Complete accurate and timely clinical documentation.
  • Manage your daily schedule and caseload with support from our administrative team.

Compensation:
Full-Time – Minimum 16 Patients.
Full-Time W-2 Salary Option:
  • $58,000–$75,000 annually.
  • Salary may increase based on patient volume.
Full-Time W-2 Tiered Per-Visit:
  • $35–$50 per visit.
  • Your per-visit rate increases as your patient volume grows.
Full-Time 1099 Tiered Per-Visit:
  • $50–$60 per visit.
  • Your per-visit rate increases as your patient volume grows.
  • Annual earning potential of up to $105,300.

Part-Time – Minimum 10 Patients
Part-Time W-2:
  • $35–$50 per visit.
  • Fixed per-visit compensation with no tiered volume model.
Part-Time 1099:
  • $50–$60 per visit.
  • Fixed per-visit compensation with no tiered volume model.

Full-Time W-2 Benefits:
  • 401(k) with annual match – employer match starts at 1.5% and increases up to 7%.
  • Paid Time Off – 2 weeks after 6 months and a third week after 9 months.
  • 5 paid holidays – effective immediately, with the flexibility to choose which holidays you take.

Qualifications:
  • Active Physical Therapist Assistant license in New Jersey required.
  • Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program.
  • Reliable transportation required.
  • Strong clinical, communication, documentation, and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a home-based setting while collaborating with supervising Physical Therapists.
  • Home health or geriatric experience is preferred but not required.
